WH Volleyball vs. Hingham 10/16/17

Whitman-Hanson traveled to Hingham Monday night and lost the match 3-0. The set scores were 13-25 (H), 17-25 (H) and 10-25 (H). The Panthers played better offense tonight with stronger serves and some good attacks and rallies with Hingham. Especially at the beginning of the second set the Panthers held their own for the first half, communicating well. WH was overcome with poor passing on serve receive and in defense. Playing well for the Panthers tonight include Freshman setter Caileen Hurley and Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Connolly. The Panthers are now 2-14 in the season and host Plymouth North on Wednesday.

Patriot League Field Hockey

The Whitman-Hanson Field Hockey Panthers played against the Duxbury Dragons and lost 6-0.  The Dragons scored 3 times in the opening 10 minutes.  The Dragons scored another 3 times before the closing of the half.  The second half was a completely different game for the Panthers, who demonstrated more poise in the defensive zone.  The Panthers were forcing the play into Duxbury's end through long drives and hustling to the ball.  The second half ended with no tallies from either team.

Overall 5-8-0, 1-8-0

Panthers Golf Fall to Harbormen

The WH golf squad dropped a close one to a very talented Hingham team at Ridder Farm Golf Course today 223-230.

Sophomore Matt Korzec's even par performance, along with junior captain Owen Manning and senior Tommy Bombardier both carding a 4 over par, gave the Panthers a good chance to upset the visiting Harbormen, but couldn't overcome the visitors' #6 and #7 players, who both shot 1 over on the day to seal the match. Despite the loss, this was WH's best overall team performance: seniors Anthony Palmacci, Nick Duffy, and Matt Stanish all contributed with a 6 over par.

The loss drops the Panthers record to 7-7 overall with only four matches remaining on the schedule; in order to qualify for the state tournament, the team need to win at least two of those matches. They begin that quest on Tuesday when they travel to Plymouth Country Club to take on the underrated Plymouth North Blue Eagles
