Round One of the MIAA Tennis Team Play-offs

 Hingham High School Girls Tennis defeated Cardinal Spellman, today Thursday 6/4 by a score of 4-1 in round one of the MIAA Tennis Team Play-offs.
 
1st singles:  Delaney Dunlap from Hingham defeated Kaitlin Hughes from Cardinal Spellman  7-5, 0-6, 1-0 with a tiebreak score of (10-7).

2nd singles: Kristen Boyle from Cardinal Spellman defeated Charlotte Bates from Hingham       6-1, 6-3.

3rd singles: Jackie Vanzura from Hingham defeated Shannon Hazelton from Cardinal Spellman  6-0, 6-0. 

1st doubles:    Allie Burton and Elizabeth Croteau from Hingham defeated Keyana Adarkwah and Maggie Chen from Cardinal Spellman  6-0, 6-0.
 
2nd doubles:  Lexi Linton and Grace Barrett from Hingham 
defeated  Celia Dolan and Meghan Ward  from Cardinal Spellman  6-0, 6-0.

W/H Boys Lax 5/31

W/H Boys lacrosse team won their first ever State Tournament game 13-6. The Panther jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the driving rain. Freshman Jake Long netted 7 goals. Junior Kyle Bina had 2 goals and 5 assists. Also chipping in were Sophomores Brett Connors and Ryan Kennedy with 1 and 2 goals respectfully. Junior Colin Downing also scored. The Defense was fantastic despite weather conditions. Junior Joe Yakavonis,Sophomores Cullen Humfryes and Rob Doherty and Goalie Jack Molito all played well.

D 2 Track Meet

The Whitman-Hanson boys competed Saturday at the Division 2 state meet at Greater New Bedford Vo Tech High School. Freshmen Brian Edwards placed 4th in the high jump, this qualified Brian for next Saturdays All State Meet at Fitchburg State College. Pat Duffey was 7th in the 800, Matt Evans made finals and placed 9th in the discus and was 12th in the shot put, Lukas Moscoso was 14th in the 2 mile, Conor Keane 14th in the 400 hurdles and Nick Smith placed 15th in triple and 16th in long jump.

Patriot League baseball score 5/29/15: Silver Lake 12-Pembroke 2

Pembroke 2

The Silver Lake Lakers baseball team defeated Pembroke 12-2 to win their 4th consecutive Patriot League Championship, and 6th league championship in school history.

Jason Johndrow pitched a complete game striking out 12 and went 2-3 with 3 RBI. Nate Youseff went 3-3 with a double, an RBI and 3 runs scored, Evan McSherry went 3-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, and Anthony Videtto went 2-4 with a triple, double and an RBI, and Tanner Bouchard went 2-4, a double, a run scored and 2 stolen bases.

The Lakers finished the regular season 15-7, 11-4 and await their tourney seeding/opponent on Monday.

Patriot league baseball score 5/27/15: Silver Lake 5 Duxbury 4

Entering the 6th inning Silver Lake trailed Duxbury 3-1 when Will Gallagher, Dan Cole, Nate Youseff and Josh Harvey strung together 4 straight hits. Harvey's hit drove in the tying run in and Evan McSherry's infield single drove in the go ahead run putting the Lakers up 4-3. Duxbury came right back in the top of the 7th when Melempy dropped a single to right scoring Brendan Kates. The sea-saw battle continued to the bottom of the 7th when Silver Lake loaded the bases with two outs and plated the winning run on a wild pitch.

For Silver Lake Anthony Videtto pitched the first 6+, striking out 4, giving up no earned runs. Jason Johndrow got the win as he struck out the side in the top of the 7th in relief of Videtto. Duxbury's Danny Graceffa was just as good as he pitched the first 6 1/3, striking out 5.

W/H Boys Lax 5/27

W/H Boys Lacrosse team defeated Pembroke 14-6. The win puts the Panthers in the State Tournament for the second year in a row. Junior Kyle Bina had 5 goals and an assist. Captain Dylan Thomas had 3 goals and 4 assists. Freshman Jake Long had 3 goals.. Junior Liam Sweeney had a goal and Sophomore Brett Conors added 2. Jack Molito was solid between the pipes with 18 saves.

Hingham High School Girls Tennis vs. Cohasset HS

 Hingham High School Girls Tennis defeated Cohasset HS, today Wednesday 5/27 by a score of 3-2 in non-league action.
 
 
1st singles:  Emma Davis from Cohasset defeated Delaney Dunlap from Hingham   6-0, 6-0.

2nd singles: Caroline Van Etten from Cohasset defeated Charlotte Bates from Hingham       6-2, 6-2.

3rd singles: Jackie Vanzura from Hingham defeated Meredith Corry from Cohasset  6-1, 7-5. 

1st doubles:    Allie Burton and Elizabeth Croteau from Hingham defeated Emily Livingstone and Ryan Spicer from Cohasset  7-5, 3-6, 7-5.

2nd doubles:  Lexi Linton and Grace Barrett from Hingham
defeated  Clara Baumgarten and Nikki Federle  from Cohasset  6-3, 6-4.
 
 Hingham is now 13-3 in conference and 17-4 overall.
