Today's girls tennis match against Quincy at home was very exciting. We won the first point of the match with captain Margaret Ingmanson winning her 3rd singles match with a dominant score of 6-0, 6-0. The 1st doubles team of Jess Costas and Emma Hamilton struggled to get one game and lost 0-6, 1-6. The second doubles team of Lexi Kupic and Allie Tappen really played well in the first set but lost in a close 5-7 set. They were dominant at net but were a bit inexperienced in positioning and missed several shots down the middle. They fell in the second set 1-6. Allie Crawford moved up after a ladder match and secured the first singles position. She moves well, kept her serve in, and gave it all her effort but fell to the Quincy 1st singles player 3-6, 4-6. The longest match of the day was 2nd singles Abby Gallagher who won her first set 6-4, looking very strong and confident. She made some errors in the second and it cost her a 4-6 loss. But she didn't show her inexperience in the third playing well after the other matches were completed. She beat the Quincy player 6-4 in the third to win her point. Unfortunately, the Silver Lake team fell short of a win. Each and every practice and match this wonderful group of athletes are improving and I look toward great things from them in the future.
