The Whitman-Hanson Girls Lacrosse team played Plymouth South at home in a league matchup this afternoon. W-H came in hungry to get back on the winning track. Plymouth South scored first, but Liz Hyslip quickly tied it right back up. The score was within 2-3 goals for the majority of the game. The Panthers defense had another strong outing as they made it very hard for Plymouth South to gain any momentum. Goalkeeper Alyssa Nicholson had a stellar game for W-H as she had 10 saves and knocked down several passes. On the offense end, W-H finally started to move the ball around after a couple of stale games. More than half of their goals were off of an assist. Arica McCarthy led the way with 5 goals and an assist. Also scoring for the Panthers was Kaity Carpenter (2), Rachel Kelly (2 goals, 1 assist), Liz Hyslip (1 goal, 1 assist), Gabby Majenski (1 goal, 1 assist), Rachel Spillane (1 goal, 1 assist), Rylee Holmes (1 goal), and Cait McCormick (1 goal). Emily Burnett and Sarah Conant also had an assist each. Plymouth South was down 4 goals at one point in the second half, but rallied back to within one goal. Jess Nihan knocked down a pass on the defensive end for W-H that sealed the win for Whitman-Hanson 13-12. The win brings W-H to 4-6 on the season (3-2 league).
