Panthers volleyball defeat Hingham 3-1

> Whitman-Hanson travelled to Hingham and claimed a 3-1 victory. Game scores were 25-23, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-13. The Panthers exhibited strong play throughout the match and were able to control much of the game with good passing and strong serving. In the first set the Panthers were led by strong serving from Alyssa Gacicia and solid play in the back row by Sophia Raiche. The Panthers got out to an early lead but Hingham kept climbing back into the set with strong hitting from the outside and the middle. The Panthers were able to make the right plays in the end to earn the victory in the first set. In the second set the Panthers were again led by strong serving by Alyssa Gacicia and Chiara Cassiano that kept Hingham on their heels allowing the Panthers to get their offense rolling. In the third set the Panthers got out to a 13-3 lead behind the strong play of Jordan Keith and Sophia Raiche. Despite the strong play from the Panthers, Hingham was able to dig their back into the set with solid hitting and passing while the Panthers couldn't get their offense going at all. Hingham was able to overtake the Panthers and earn the third set victory. In the fourth and deciding set the Panthers were led by strong play from Sophie O'Brien and Alyssa Gacicia and from the beginning it was clear that the Panthers were going to earn the victory. The Panthers put together solid passing and serve receive which allowed the setter to put good balls up for the hitters. Sophie O'Brien and Halle Julian dominated the net and helped the Panthers secure the match victory. Playing well for the Panthers tonight were Sophie O'Brien with 16 kills, 4 blocks and 1 ace; Alyssa Gacicia with 35 assists, 9 aces and 15 digs; Chiara Cassiano with 13 kills and 4 aces; and Sophia Raiche with 31 serve receives and 14 digs. Whitman-Hanson moves to 4-3 on the season and heads to Plymouth South on Wednesday.
