WH Volleyball

> The Panthers travelled to Plymouth North and won a great match 3-2 with game scores of 25-16, 13-25, 22-25, 25-18 and 15-12. The entire match was back and forth with each team making great plays all over the court. In the first set the Panthers started strong from the service line and got heads up play from Jessica Nihan to claim the first set win. In the second set win the Panthers struggled to keep pace with Plymouth North and as a result of their own errors played themselves out of the second set allowing Plymouth to take the set easily. In the third set the Panthers got strong play out of Madison Scott and Sophie O'Brien who made several big plays to keep rallies alive. Despite stronger play from the Panthers in all facets of the game the Panthers found themselves on the losing end of the third set and facing elimination in the fourth set. Between the end of the third set and the start of the fourth set the Panthers rallied around each other and promised that they weren't going to give Plymouth North the game without making them fight for it. Behind strong play from setter Alyssa Gacicia, libero Sophie Raiche and Jordan Keith the Panthers were able to come out strong in the fourth set and they never really looked back. The game was back and forth for much of the set but the Panthers victory in the set was never really in doubt! The Panthers were picking up their energy and driving the game and won the 4th set behind strong serving from Chiara Cassiano. The fifth and deciding set was back and forth the entire time with each team making great plays all around but the Panther attack was too much for Plymouth and the Panthers came away with the set and the match victory. Playing great for the Panthers tonight were Sophie O'Brien with 12 kills and 4 blocks; Alyssa Gacicia with 34 assists, 3 kills and 4 aces; Chiarra Cassiano with 10 kills and 6 aces and Madison Scott with 8 kills. The Panthers move to 3-3 on the season and travel to Hingham on Monday.
